Mdg New June 2004

Most of you will be aware of the following but for those who have not been over the past couple of weeks I have listed some of the things that may be of interest to you.

We put on an excerpt of “Once A Catholic” in the Guardian Rose Bowl Competition recently which went down extremely well. Jenny Elsegood won the award of Best Actress for this production and “Seasons Greetings” won the Technical Award.

We also had several other nominations:

Sheila for Best Director
Chad for Overall Excellence with “Funny Money”
Simon Jones and Steve Gurr for Best supporting actors
“Seasons Greetings” for Set Design.

At the One Act Play Festival at Knutsford we also did an excerpt from “Once A Catholic”. Unfortunately we did not win but Sheila was nominated Best Director, Sheenah Best Actress and the play Best Overall Production.

The Cheshire Theatre Guild A.G.M. and award evening will be held on Wednesday 7 July 2004 at Winsford Civic Hall and anybody requiring tickets for this please let either Sheila or myself know as soon as possible. Due to the size of the venue it probably would be alright to turn up on the night.

On 8 August 2004 “Pride & Prejudice” is on at Tatton Park. If anyone is interested in going please let either Sheila or myself know as soon as possible. It is an outside production. Also coming up on 14 August is a production of “Stepping Out” at the New Vic, Newcastle under Lyme, if interested please contact Derek Morris. If you are interested in any other productions don’t forget to contact Derek who is always willing to organize trips to other theatres.

On July 6th 7th and 8th the Youth Production will be staged and Sheenah is looking for volunteers to help please contact her directly if you are willing.

It has not yet been decided what the Autumn production will be however Derek Morris is looking at “Animal Farm” and there will be a read through of this on Tuesday 13 July 7.30 p.m. Everybody welcome.

Don’t forget the Garden Safari on Sunday 11 July details from Joan Christie or Sheila.

In the pipeline we have a Treasure Hunt round Knutsford, a return of the fashion show “Fizz”, a patrons evening, an adjudication evening, a set design evening, talks, table top sale and a theme night. More details on these to follow.

If anybody has any ideas for Tuesday nights please feel free to suggest them or if there is a particular play you would like to read please let us know.

For anyone that doesn’t know we have a new Chairman Tony Morris and a new committee member Sheenah Wiseman.
