I was first actively involved with MDG in the Autumn of 1987 when I was Musical Director for Oh What a Lovely War. Subsequently, I’ve supervised the music for several shows including Oliver, 2 Music Halls, Our Day Out, A Christmas Carol and most recently Smike.
I’ve done some acting too (with no great measure of success) in Under Milk Wood in 1990 (which I prefer to forget), The Government Inspector and Our Town.
I’ve directed several plays as well and each time I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the experience. These include, Thark in 1993, Tons of Money in 1999, the premiere of Robert Meadow's The Underwich Project in 2001, Blithe Spirit in 2002 and a compilation evening - Pot Pourri in 2010.
I run theatre trips for MDG members on a fairly regular basis both to local theatres and to London (it was our 10th London trip in March 2010).
Finally, I was Bar Manager for the 3 years before handing over to Eric Green who is always on the look-out for volunteers to help as bar staff, especially during productions. |
